Hey Game Changer!
One of the first big decisions you face when building a coaching business is choosing the market you will position yourself in.
For those of you new to the industry, this is called a niche.
It’s important to talk about your niche because a lot of people can get this wrong, which slows their progress significantly.
We don’t want that to happen to you.
When it comes to choosing your niche, there are some criteria you can apply to your decision making.
The first thing you want to establish is whether there is a hungry market for what you offer.
Search online to see whether there are already competitors in the space, and evidence of customers looking specifically for your product or service and willing to pay.
Prominent hungry markets include business coaching, leadership coaching, parenting coaching and mindset coaching.
It’s also really important to choose a market that you love (because you are going to spend a lot of time there), where you have authority, experience and results.
We at Relentless Education believe you should do what you care about and have a passion for.
No one wants to listen to someone who is just going through the motions.
Find something you are super passionate about because people want to know that you care about them and the outcome they get.
If you are still unsure, have a think about this.
What are the things you learn about without being prompted?
What is a niche you would be keen to learn about and read books on?
Will you want to spend time listening to podcasts about it?
It’s worth the struggle deciding because placing yourself in the right niche is amazingly important.
The best niche for you will always be the one that has the least amount of resistance from you.
This will allow you to have the fastest amount of success, where you can make the most amount of impact and most amount of profit (which you can then funnel into serving your market at an even higher level).
A mistake we see many coaches make is choosing a niche that actually stops them from doing those things.
If you find yourself stuck, reach out for support from a coach or mentor who can help you speed up your decision making process.
It’s also important you revisit and make refinements as you move forward in your business.
We consistently look at our niche and avatar (ideal client) so we can continue to make Relentless Education one the best places for coaches to get the support they need to build a successful business.
At the end of the day, the work you do as coaches is about getting people a result.
It’s about the success you get for OTHER people.
If you are just starting out as a life coach, it’s imperative you do pro bono coaching in the beginning and take lots of action to get results that you can market.
Another tip to remember - make sure you choose a niche based on the things that your dream clients WANT and are looking for. Not what you think they need.
Keep it simple, work hard, get support and go and make it happen.
You’ve got this.
